Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Inkitt GmbH (“Inkitt”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and shares personal data when you use the Audiobooks+ app, this website, and related services (the “Service”), and the rights you have over your data.

1. Data we collect

  • Data you give us: email address when you join the waitlist or create an account, profile details, listening preferences, reviews and messages you send to support.
  • Usage data: series and chapters played, playback position and speed, downloads, session length, and in-app interactions.
  • Device and technical data: device model, operating system, app version, language, approximate location derived from IP address, and crash logs.
  • Purchase data: subscription status and transaction identifiers received from Apple or Google. We never receive your full card details.

2. How we use your data

  • to provide the Service, sync your listening progress and library;
  • to recommend series and personalise what you see;
  • to process subscriptions and prevent fraud or abuse;
  • to send product updates, launch news and marketing where permitted;
  • to measure performance, fix bugs and improve the app;
  • to comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal bases

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data to perform our contract with you, on the basis of your consent (for example, marketing emails and optional analytics), for our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service, and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time.

4. Waitlist emails

If you submit your email on this website, we store it solely to notify you about the Audiobooks+ launch and related updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

5. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers acting on our behalf — hosting and database providers, analytics and crash reporting, email delivery, customer support tools, and app store payment processors — under contracts that restrict their use of it. We may also disclose data where required by law or in connection with a corporate transaction.

6. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or other appropriate safeguards.

7. Retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and afterwards only as long as needed for the purposes described here or to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. Waitlist emails are deleted on request or when they are no longer needed.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. To exercise any of these, email privacy@inkitt.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and mobile identifiers to keep you signed in, remember preferences and measure how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings and limit ad tracking through your device settings.

10. Children

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; if we learn that we have, we will delete it.

11. Security

We use technical and organisational measures such as encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest revision and we will highlight material changes in the app. Questions? Write to privacy@inkitt.com. See also our Terms of Use.
